How To Give Yourself A Flawless Non-Mess Manicure At Home

Clean your nails

The first step of every successful manicure is to start with clean nails. You simply cannot expect your next nail coat to sit smoothly when your previous nail paint coat is still sticking around. So, even before you start with manicure tools, clean your nails and wipe away any residue so you can work on a clean slate later. Also, make it the first step of your manicure, so that with the next step, you can wash away the remover and its fragrance. 

Soak your hands

Now, prepare a mixture of warm water and dish soap. This helps you to get loosen and get rid of any kind of dirt. Also, soaking your hands will soften your skin, nails, and nail cuticles. The warm water will open up the pores of your skin so the moisturizer can seep in and it is easy to shape and cut off the soft nails. 

File and shape nails

After soaking your hands for a few minutes, pat them dry and start with cutting, shaping, and filing your nails. Your manicure kit will have the essential tools for the same. First, chip your nails and bring them at the length you desire. Chop off any chipping nail and shape it. Now, take a nail filer to shape your nails square, oval, etc. if you have thin nails, file your nails from underneath and use it titled. This way you won't chip it. Finally, buff the sides and top of your nails with a nail buffer. This will create a smooth surface buffing off any manicure ruining residue from them. 

Prep your cuticles

When you are working on your nails, never miss preparing your cuticles. Push back your cuticles. Cut off the extra cuticle growing at the sides of your nails. Then, drop a little amount of cuticle remover on the nails, and with a cuticle pusher, gently push back the cuticles. The dead skin covers a lot of your nail bed. Pushing the cuticle back will give your nails an elongated look and provide you with a more surface area to apply polish.  

Scrub 

Now, take a mild scrubber to scrub your hands. Scrubbing hands is an important step of a manicure. Exfoliate for 2-3 minutes and wash away and moisturize. 

Apply base coat

Now, apply a base coat of your nail paint, let it dry. Then the second coat and finish off with the topcoat.

Let it dry

Now, to dry the nails, use a curing UV lamp. This will dry your coats faster.
