In this article, I will explain why I suggest that if you are a new marketer or a new digital agency, you need to stop investing your resources in hooking the big fish. Moreover, I will try to give your business new purpose.

For me, and I hope for many other leaders in the field of digital marketing it’s not all about the money, it is about helping people that have no idea how this world is driven, taking their grand plan and helping them reach their goals. This world of “you can do anything online” brings together people with large businesses and people with great ideas on how to market those companies, so we need help each other.

Searching for a great idea with no resources

Every great idea starts as nothing in some garage or an old office, and most of them have no resources or plan on how to promote their products.

This is the point where my vision comes in — If You believe in the business and the product or idea they have, and you think it is something awesome that will be successful in this world…make that deal!

YES, even if they cannot pay your rate, and you find yourself and all your staff working late for that small business when the other clients do not receive such treatment, keep doing it.

Remember, you believe in what they do, and most of all, they are counting on you not as their PPC or social media manager but rather as their leading expert in digital marketing industries.

As their consultant, you are the one that knows exactly what they need to do to make this product viral, remember: the best products don’t always win and become viral, more often than not it’s the creative ideas and great advertising work of visionary men and women that believe in that product that makes all the difference

One happy client could be worth three or four new clients, but one unhappy client could lose you 100 clients

Don’t get me wrong, I am not suggesting turning your digital marketing agency into pro bono advertiser for those with no means, what I am saying is that there are some great ideas out there, with amazing people behind them, help them and put your ego aside, trust me, it will be worth it.

To explain this part of the article, I want to talk a little more about why I decided to start my online business: as I said before — my primary goal is helping people succeed, if I help them, they may very well end up helping me.

I found myself thinking one day about how I can bring in more clients, after all — nobody knew who I am and what I am capable of doing.

I remembered my salesperson days, helping clients choose the right products for them and not just working for a bigger commission — I could upsell most customers tons of stuff they not needed, but why would I want to do that? Even back then, I believed that people do not easily forget those who helped them make the right choice.

I was happy to discover that the digital industry works very similarly to my core beliefif I can prove I am as good as I think I am, customers will recommend my services to colleagues and friends.

It turns out — I was right, one happy client brought in two new clients, and those two provided three other satisfied clients and so on.

The benefits and money were not far behind, I was not investing in advertising, but instead, I invested in helping as many people as I could.

I gave them my best strategy for how to proceed in promoting their business, and when it worked — they became my living, breathing advertisers, and unlike regular advertising — I did not have to pay them a cent.

So stop searching for the big fish and put your resources towards working with some smaller clients and the bigger fish will not be far behind.

Remember — It was not long time ago you started out small, so go out there, look at their idea and product, and if you believe it will work — make the leap of faith — It pays off!.
