Open your eyes, Open your heart
The film you have just watched was created in the backdrop of the 50 years since the Six Day War, but the date is totally arbitrary. We believe that Jerusalem should and can be open every day and every year. This film was not created in a vacuum. It is the result of the relationships we have developed and the inspiration we have drawn from the city’s many civic leaders who dissolve boundaries on a daily basis and who have no need for the inherent symbolism of this auspicious date.
If you feel a connection to the film and its message, we encourage you to share it and to create with us a new and more open conversation from Jerusalem. A conversation that listens before it speaks. A conversation that tries to hear as many voices and opinions as possible. A conversation that is willing to challenge the belief that I am always right and that stops trying to own the truth.
We will be posting the full program of Mekudeshet 2017 very soon. But, meanwhile, clear your diary from August 23 to September 15. We are about to suggest that you – and we – take a slightly different look at our city. That we elevate our gaze. That we listen to the voices and sounds that rise up from here and resonate throughout the world. That we feel empathy and not just for those who are near and like-minded. That we explore what’s going on around us. That we dissolve physical and conceptual boundaries and offer the city some contemporary urban ceremonies.
