I have both real world and academic experience writing business plans. For example, I drafted a business plan for a sushi restaurant, of which I was the managing head chef. Additionally, a significant amount of time is devoted to business plans in law school.

Years of reading complex philosophical texts has made me a very careful reader, and the demands of law school simply strengthened that impetus.

Legal writing is essentially technical writing about abstractions. In law school I drafted an extensively footnoted 70 page memo for the prosecutor's chambers of the Lebanon War Crimes Tribunal. The memo was well received and earned high marks. A major focus of legal writing is the simplistic explanation of complicated issues. This is analogous to what is required when drafting a manual for technical use.
