Did you know that there are around twelve different types of sockets worldwide?

To our surprise, there is also! Twelve different types of sockets that need different types of adapters and not.

And we have to admit that this is an unavoidable problem. To solve this problem, a whole community of travel adapter manufacturers has surfaced, allowing frustrated vacationers to easily charge their iPhones and laptops. Not just any a fast company.

Note, however, that not all power adapters are the same. Therefore, there are a few things you need to know before buying one for your trip abroad.

6 things to consider before buying a travel adapter:

It does not convert tensions

When you buy a travel adapter, you need to make sure that it does not transform the voltage. Only the location of the pins of your charger or device coming out of the power outlet.

In most countries, the usual power supply is 220-240 volts. Double the tension you use at home. The power plug adapters you purchased should be suitable for this load. Otherwise, it would end up as a malfunctioning device with a burning smell.

Check the voltage resistance of the socket on a small sticker on the charger or on the device. If it does not support up to 240 volts, you would also need to take a voltage converter with you!

The size is what matters

They are available in many shapes and sizes. From small and simple single-region adapters to larger universal versions that can be used in most countries. When traveling around the world, universal travel is convenient, but its size can cause problems for travelers.

The main problem with size is that they easily fall out of the socket when loaded, like a heavy plug when the socket is loose. There is also a good chance that they will block the outlet next to you.

So take the smallest adapter or say a set of adapters you find would work well in all your travel destinations. These single-region versions are also cheaper.

These three plugs are a must!

Many old-fashioned adapters only have sockets for two-pin plugs. However, if you are using a MacBook, power strip, or other device with the round ground pin, they will not fit into this type of adapter.

Make sure you try the plug in your adapter before you buy it. This will help you avoid future problems and buy a travel adapter that you actually need.

Do not shop at the airport

The airport is one of the most expensive places to shop, whether it's food, drink, clothes or just about anything you can imagine. When you buy a travel adapter from an airport, you end up paying three times the actual value of that adapter. A $ 5 adapter is sold for well over $ 20.

Do not just be that person, but buy your adapter before you go. If you buy early, you can choose the version you need, tap and test before you go!

Do not buy many of them

When traveling with a family, you may also have a range of devices and equipment. Buying individual adapters is therefore an expensive affair. Instead, buy a travel outlet strip or just pack around at home.

As long as you do not need to convert their voltages, you can simply connect all chargers to the power strip. Plug the power strip into the travel adapter and this adapter into the wall. One of the benefits is that you save money, have extra space in your pocket and avoid the problem of never having enough power outlets in your hotel room!

Other options

If you have electronics that can be charged via USB, a better option is available! Many companies make compact sockets with two or four USB travel adapters. This allows you to charge multiple devices with the same adapter!

Some of them have clip-on connectors that allow you to use them in different countries. With the same small adapter you can power cell phones, tablets, Kindles, portable batteries and even electric toothbrushes.

In summary:

Before you buy an on-the-go power adapter, make sure that the maximum power of the adapter is complete for both individual power adapters and adapters. Make sure the latest iPads and smartphones and even other small devices consume more juice than older devices. Therefore, look for AC adapters that support at least 2.4 MP at each outlet to which you want to connect your powerful devices.
