Decorated with a crown of success, Ms. Karen has beaten all the odds to emerge as one of the greatest entrepreneurs of the 21st century. 15 years ago, nobody would have looked at her and imagined of the prominence she was about to gain. Born in a well of family, few would have imagined that she would get out of the comfort zone to build an empire for herself. Regardless of the fact that most rich kids choose to ride in the glory of their parents, she chose a less trodden route to establish a business that has worn her both admiration and disdain from critics.

 

 

Ms. Karen has fought an epic battle to get down into the books of history as a self-made entrepreneur whose presence and contribution is being felt far and wide in the entire world. She has a rare reputation of building a multimillion organization without the need for external help or loans.

 

I have written about successful people before, but I found this an extra ordinary moment to capture the ideas of a person who has literary rose from the dead to dine with the living. Asking her about her success, she confesses that she had not anticipated the kind of merit she was now getting. While in school, her star began to shine as she became the subject of several awards and scholarships to advance her career. Regardless of all these achievements, she was not going to relent on a shining star that she could see on the horizons. Her dream was entrepreneurship. Creating products that would bring change to the world.

 

She has lived to believe that what you focus on you find. Hers is the story of a creative entrepreneur who has risen from rags to managing one of the largest startups in the world. When I arrived for the interview, I found her quietly seated on her chair scribbling something on a paper that I suspect are notes for the next big project. She is in charge of the day to day running of the company though she insists that the organization runs itself. The employees are trained to work with little or no supervision. She further explained to me that she has invested in her employees to get the best out of their services. From her talk, I could deduce that she doesn’t compromise on quality. When a product or a person loses quality, then the ceases to exist

 

Like many other entrepreneurs, she doesn’t shy from her achievements. Right from the moment we started talking she was always referencing them. Who can steer a company to 3 global businesses in less than 10 years and fail to be proud of it? Her company has been profitable since the beginning though she admits that there were challenges a midst the success.  Amid the challenges, the company has been in a position to expand all over the country with offices in more than 50 locations within the country.  From her own words, she is a staunch believer that negative thoughts do not lead to positive results. The company is renowned for a huge product range and is seeking to increase production and expansion in the near future. The company has also been in a position to share a sizable amount of its income with charity work, government agencies and children’s departments.

 

The company seeks to partner with the smaller businesses which are also involved in similar trade. She explains this as away to increase their annual turnover and also ensuring that the smaller businesses do not succumb to competition that the company has recently brought to the market.  Her dream is to see others succeed just like has also succeeded. She is fully aware that business is understanding the playing field and playing according to the rules otherwise you might find yourself in unknown murky waters

 

Listening to her, you will bear me witness that Ms. Karen is a creative entrepreneur. She speaks with a zeal and conviction that matches no other. Perhaps, this is what has helped her to stand strong even when conditions were not favorable. She approaches every challenge with audacity because she believes that fear impedes success. To her, change is the only constant in the equation of success. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what you have, you only need to change and success will align itself with you.

 

 

Every morning, she reminds her employees that a successful company must innovate every day or else it will find itself in the jungle without a person to sell anything to.  She constantly told me never to complain throughout the interview and I could feel that it was coming from down deep in her heart.  According to her, complains not only deepen the problems but also create animosity within the workers. She strives to see a happy and satisfied and work force.

 

In the next 5 years, she has set a target of reaching the whole world. Regardless of the fact that this only seemed as an imagination at the beginning, she has lived to believe that anything is achievable. She has set her eyes on expanding to Asia and Africa in 5 years and colonizing the whole world in the next 10 years

To her, being an entrepreneur is not just about the money. The satisfaction of achieving a dream is far away from that of money. Every morning that she wakes, it is for the dream and not the money. Follow the dream and the money will follow you.

Ms. Karen also has advice for aspiring entrepreneurs. The journey of success is riddled with valleys and pitfalls. One time you feel that you won’t make it while the truth is that you are about to accomplish something big. Quitting is never an option in the world of entrepreneurship
